- Deb Jeanne Moede, age 57, of Menasha, went home to be with her Heavenly Savior with her family and dear friends by her side on Sunday, April 1, 2012. Deb was born April 20, 1954 at Travis Air Force Base in California to Ronald and Beverly (Melbauer) Moede.
She graduated from Appleton West High School with the class of 1972. In 1974, Deb started at the R. Sabee Co. where she worked until 1994 when she became disabled from a connective tissue disease called Polymyositis. She was unable to work for 17 years. During this time she became very active at St. Pius X Catholic Church where she attended daily Mass, sang in several different choirs, was a Cantor, and became a Third Order Franciscan. Deb was a member of the Marian Devotions Prayer Group - she also sang for weddings and funerals. Deb was very focused on spiritual life.
Deb then started volunteering at St. Pius and taught herself how to use a computer. By late 2001 she was ready to tackle the working world again. After a couple of temp jobs, she was hired full time at Affinity Health System as a clerical assistant. After 2 promotions, she worked her way up to Medical Staff Coordinator. She was proud to work for Affinity Health System for 10 ½ years until she was diagnosed with cancer.
Deb enjoyed many different kinds of crafting and had great love and joy for her cats.
She will be missed by her mother, Beverly Moede, Appleton; 3 sisters: Patti (Rand) Kaepernick, New London, Kathleen (Chuck) Merkes, Appleton, and Christine Spindler, Neenah; a brother, Karl (Cheryl) Moede, Appleton. She is further survived by 11 nieces and nephews and her special friend, Larry Manly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Moede.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 4, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., with Father Thomas Farrell officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Wednesday from 3 pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cherry Meadows, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and her unwavering dear friends, especially Diane, Catherine, and Deb and Verne Sumnicht who were with us through her courageous journey.
