    • Darell Roy Buechler, 80, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Jack & Engrid Meng Unity Hospice Residence in DePere after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Darell was born October 29, 1936, in Hollandtown, WI, to the late Peter and Mildred (Lambie) Buechler. He attended Pulaski High School, graduating in 1954, and then attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL before entering the US Air Force, where he served from 1956 to 1960. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked at a radar site on Santa Rosa Island, CA for Philco Corporation, where he instructed Air Force personnel. During this time in California, Darell married his high school sweetheart, the former Barbara Paulus, in 1960 in Oxnard, CA.

After moving back to Green Bay in 1961, he began a career as an electrical project engineer with Fort Howard Paper Company that spanned the next 34 years, until his retirement in 1995.

During his retirement, Darell enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and traveling with Barb to visit his children and grandchildren in Pennsylvania and Colorado.

Darell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara and his two sons, Jeff (Lee Carpenter) Buechler, of State College, PA and Jay (Terri) Buechler, of Littleton, CO.

Darell was also a proud and loving grandfather to two grandsons, Calvin and Max Buechler.

He is further survived by his sister, Marilyn (Arthur) Matuszak; identical twin brother, Duane Buechler; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Audrey Paulus; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mildred; along with his sister, Darlene Buechler; sister-in-law, Loretta Marnocha; brothers-in-law, Gerald and Donald Marnocha; and sister-in-law, Joanne Buechler.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Darell may be shared on his tribute page with his family at www.lyndahl.com.

In lieu of floral expressions, the family requests that donations be made in Darell's name to the Unity Hospice organization at UnityHospice.org.

Darell's family would like to thank the in-home care providers from Unity Hospice (especially Dr. Paul Koch, MD, Lori Denis and Ashley DeStarkey) and the staffs of Unity Hospice and the Jack & Engrid Meng Unity Hospice Residence.
