- Dale Roy Gerndt, 62, was suddenly called home to heaven on Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home by Suring. He was born January 8, 1951 to Leslie and Helen (Lemke) Gerndt. As a young man, Dale enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Dale enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening and the outdoors. He was a devout member of the Hickory Church of Christ and even more devout to his family. Dale had two daughters that he loved and spoke about often. Dale was also a talker, and was known for always making people smile and laugh, it was certainly his gift in life.
Dale will be loved and remembered by his two daughters, Jocelyn M. Gerndt (P. Rudnick) and Stephanie M. Gerndt (Tim Wirhanowicz); his mother, Helen (Lemke-Gerndt) Trever; one brother, David R. (Mary) Gerndt; four sisters, Jean (Curtis) Suring; Judy (Irv) Johnson; Jane (Doug) Garbrecht; Jill (Jerry) Wendt; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends, coworkers and fellow church members.
Dale was greeted in heaven by his father, Leslie Gerndt, his Dad, Donald Trever, a nephew, Brian Johnson, a niece, Trisha Simon, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Family and friends will celebrate Dale's life with graveside services at 11am Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Suring; followed by a gathering of family and friends at The Red Maple Golf Club in Suring for a light luncheon.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established in Dale's name.
