Cornelius C. Meyer (Neil) 1919 N. Owaissa St. age 85, died 10 PM Monday, September 12, 1988, after a short illness. He was born December 20, 1902 in Appleton, and had been an Appleton area resident all of his life. He married Clara Lietz on March 8, 1924. Neil operated Meyers Honey Farm, one of the largest bee keepers in the state for many years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed dancing in his younger years. He was a member of Freedom Moravian Church and a 50 year member of the Appleton Moose Lodge 367.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter in-law; Gerald and Elaine, Appleton; Raymond and his special friend, Evie, Little Chute; a foster son, James and his wife, Althea Cooper, Milwaukee; two brothers and sisters in-law; Robert and Lois, Madison; william and Nellie Fairhope, Alabama; four brothers in-law and their wives; Werner and Mina Lietz, Norman and Marge, all of Menasha; Frederick and Beulah, Alvin and Vera, all of Appleton; three sisters in-law; Sally and Paul Zimmerman, Ruth and Clarence Penmerman, Sylvia Michaelis, all of Appleton; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and munerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, January 2, 1982; his parents; Jacob and Grace (Collins) Meyer; and three sisters; Ruth, mauguerite, and Winifred. The funeral service will be Thursday, September 15, 1988, at 10:30 AM from Morvian Church, Route 7, Center Valley Rd., with Rev. Richard Thierolf officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., from 4 until 9 PM Wednesday, September 14 and from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at the church. The Moose Ritual will be held 7:30 PM Wednesday evening. A memorial fund has been established for the Appleton Community Hospice. Neil was a great guy and will be missed by many.
