- Cordell M. Madel, age 79 of Neenah, joined her Heavenly Father at Villa St. Clare early Friday, December 30, 2011, with her husband and children by her side. She was born October 14, 1932, to the late Arnold Kuhnke and Vecilda (Finger) Young. On June 23, 1951, she married Herman Madel. Cordell was a very caring, loving person with a lot of goodness in her heart. She was always thinking of her children and husband before herself. She had a love for BINGO and spending time at the cottage in Lily, WI. She also enjoyed nine winters in Apache Junction, AZ. She was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School in New London and later worked for Staab Abstract and Equitable Reserve Inc. as a claim supervisor. She held offices at Equitable Reserve as well as for the Ladies' Elks and was president of the PTO for many years. After retirement, Cordell still continued to serve her community and her family. She volunteered with Herman at the Christine Ann Center, Equitable Reserve, Elks Lodge, and always enjoyed helping her grandkids with Brat Fry fundraisers. She remained active in volunteering even after her several strokes and severe arthritis. She was also a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Neenah.
Cordell is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herman; her children, Gerald (Laurel) Madel; Vickie (Dean) Sopata; and Douglas S. Madel; grandchildren, Jessica; Justin; Joel; Douglas D; Kellie; and Scott; and great-grandchildren, Kayleigh; Kiera; and Lexi as well as many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her brother and sisters, Dennis; Bonnie; and Marla; as well as a dear sister-in-law, Betty Haller; and special friends, Ernie and Sherry Bellin.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and step-father, Lambert Young; and her father.
A funeral service for Cordell will be held Monday, January 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, Rev. Robin Reed officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Cordell's name.
Cordell's family would like to extend a warm thank you to Villa Saint Clare for going above and beyond. Their care and compassion was greatly appreciated.
