      Age 79, passed away Thursday, July 24, 1986, at Appleton Extended Care. He was born January 4, 1907, in Freedom, and had resided in Appleton since 1929. He was united in marriage to the former Nellie DeBruin on August 20, 1929, at St. Mary Catholic church, Kaukauna. Clifton was employed by Appleton Paper for 43 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic church, and the Quarter Century Club of Appleton Paper. Survivors include his wife, Nellie; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Miss Vivian Hughes, Milqukee, Ronald and Mary Jane Harp, Appleton, Milt and Shirley Collar, Appleton, Delmar and Helen Mueller, Appleton, and Steve and Kathy Kamba, Town of Menasha; two sons and daughters-in-law, DClifton Jr. and Ione Highes, Appleton, and Patrick and Marie Hughes, Appleton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Leo and Marge Hughes, Appleton, Owen Jr., and Mary Hughes, Appleton; and Thomas Hughes, California; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Florence Ebben, Appleton, Frank and Gertrude Sprister, Appleton, Joe and Margaret De Bruin, Kaukauna, and Lillian Seggelink, Florence, Wisconsin; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, harold. The fu8neral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 1986, at St. Therese Catholic church with the Rev. Daniel Gilsdorf officiating. burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 4 to 0 p.m. Friday (tonight), and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Friday evening (tonight) at the funeral chapel. A memorial fund has been established.
