    • YOUTHFUL SAILOR DROWNS IN RIVER

Sniderville Boy, Employed on Tug, Plunges into Deep Water and Dies

Clifton Church, 17, of Sniderville, employed on the tug Fox, was drowned about 6:15 Wednesday afternoon while bathing in the Fox river near the Combined Locks Paper mill, where the boat was anchored for the night.

Church, unable to swim, apparently plunged into water beyond his depth. Fellow employees heard his cry for help as he was sinking the third time, but were unable to locate the youth to rescue him. The body was recovered by members of the Fox crew two hours after Church went down. Dr. J. H. Doyle of Little Chute, worked over the body, but declared the youth dead. The body was removed to the undertaking establishment of Anton Verkuilen at Little Chute.

Church is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. William Church of Sniderville, and the following brothers and sisters: Ralph of Waukesha, Donald of Sniderville, Mrs. Clara Way of Mountain, Mrs. Albert Preinenberger of Menasha, and Miss Maude Church of Sniderville.
