    • Deacon Clay U. Wildenberg, age 74, of Gresham, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 6, 1938 in Combined Locks, he was the son of the late Walter T. and Eileen S. (Milton) Wildenberg. After graduating from St. John's High School in Little Chute, Clay furthered his education at the University of WI-Stevens Point and at the Brown Institute of Broadcasting. He also served in the United States Army Reserve. After college, Clay worked for The Appleton Post Crescent and WFRV-TV5. On June 6, 1964 he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Siebers at the Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. In 1986, Clay attended the Cardinal Stritch College receiving his Diaconal Ministry Program Certificate and was ordained on September 13, 1986 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Green Bay. His diaconal assignments have included St. Thomas More in Appleton, St. Ann's in St. Anna, St. Mary's in Marion, St. Mary's in Leopolis, Holy Family St. William in Wittenberg and St. Anthony's in Tigerton. Clay was active as a Tribunal Field Advocate, with the Clinical Pastoral Education Practicum at St. Vincent's in Green Bay and on the Deacon Formation Board. Clay loved serving the Lord's people as well as camping, playing cribbage, watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, and anything Irish.

      Clay is survived by: his wife, Carol; his 3 sons, Alan G. (Shari Johnson) Wildenberg, Craig A. (Amy) Wildenberg, Todd J. (Laura) Wildenberg; 7 grandchildren, Cale, Troy, Case, Cash, Cadence, Ashley, Derek; a sister, Donna (Bob) Lopas of Gresham; and 2 brothers, Jay Wildenberg of Wabeno and Jim (Maggie) Wildenberg of Black Creek.

      Clay was preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister-in-law, Susie Wildenberg.

      Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leopolis with the Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
