  • Notes
    • Christian L. Coenraad, age 80, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at his residence. On June 27, 1931, Christian Lambert, was born the sixth child of nine children to the late Lambert and Christina (Vander Zandt) Coenraad in Combined Locks. He then moved with his family to Kimberly. As a youth, he served as an altar boy at Holy Name Church in Kimberly for daily mass. He played the trumpet in the band at Kimberly High School. During his summers as a teen, Chris would work on a farm to earn money. He learned early how to work hard and also to have fun. Chris enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and was stationed in Alaska at the time his older brother, Marty, was in Korea during the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. He met his wife Janie (Alma Jane) Scovronski and they married on July 11, 1953. They raised seven children together in Menasha while he worked at Bergstrom Paper Company in Neenah. Chris would also find jobs to do for that extra dollar, like roofing, tearing down old barns, or doing yard work for elderly persons in town. He and Janie had been members of St. John's Parish since their marriage. Chris enjoyed playing softball on a men's league, in his earlier days. He enjoyed deer hunting with the guys up North. He also liked playing cards; he could tell you your cribbage score before you had time to count it and playing BINGO at various casinos. Chris helped support the Wisconsin tax payers by purchasing weekly lottery tickets waiting for "the big one". Chris loved watching baseball and football, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears! However, more than all of the above, he enjoyed his family and being together, especially for the holidays.

Chris will be missed by his loving children: Susan Rix, Christine (Randy) Rasmussen, Alice McGuire, Rosemary (Ken Strobel) Coenraad, Patricia (Perry) Rindfleisch, Edward (Jean) Coenraad; 9 grandchildren: Jay, Carri, Aaron, Jennifer, Ryan, Angie, Jacob, Lucas, and Tyler; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Martin (Joan) Conrad; his sisters: Geraldine Fahrenkrug, Alice Subert, Wilma Weyenberg and Theresa (Roy) Vanden Heuvel; and brothers-in-law: Dale Seefeldt and Roland Kissinger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, a son, David; three sisters: Harriet Vande Hey, Gertrude Grishaber, and Josephine Seefeldt; and a son-in-law, Roger Rix.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, May 21, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere Street in Menasha with Fr. Larry Canavera officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 9:30 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Inurnment will take place in St. John Cemetery, Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
