- Cecilia Schemenauer, 90, Athens died Nov. 10, 1999, at her residence in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County. Funeral services were held Nov. 15, at St. John's Catholic Church inWuertzburt, with Father LenStashek officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The former Ceilia Calmes was born on Nov. 1 1909, in Appleton, the daughter of Theodore and Susan (Ellenbecker) Calmes. On Sept. 1 1931, Cecilia and Elmerd Schemenauer were united in marriage in a double ceremony with her sister Catherine Calmes and Charles Scherer at St. John's Catholic Church in Wuertzburg.
Cecilia and Elmerd farmed in the Town of Frankfort until retiring and continued to reside on the home farm. She especialy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. She was a long time member of St. John's Parish Council of Catholic Women and the Franklin Home Makers Club.
Surviviors include her husband of 68 years, Elmerd Schemenauer of Athens; three sons, Raymond (Joyce) Schemenauer of Athens, Elmer (Patricia) Schemenauer, Jr. of Jackson and Peter (Marian) Schemenauer; of Athens; two daughters, Susan (Dennis) Nowacki of Athens and Kathleen Zettler of Athens; one brother, Peter Calmes of Wausau; two sisters Catherine Scherer of Chicago, Ill., and Josephine Schmirler of Milwaukee; 28 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Joann Redmann and infant Mary Jane, three brothers and three sisters.
Grandsons served as pallbearers: Craig Schemenauer, Kevin Schemenauer, Tim Schemenauer, Corey Zettler Jerry Redmann and Brian Nowacki.
