    • Oconto - Carroll A. Dumke, 94, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Woodland Villages, Oconto. Carroll was born June 4, 1923 in the Town of Grover to the late John and Lillie (Wagner) Ihde. She married Leo Dumke on June 1, 1946. Leo preceded her in death on February 23, 2016. She was an especially loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Carroll graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1939 at the age of 16 and went on to pursue her desire to be a teacher by attending Marinette Normal. She taught at various area one-room school houses before getting married and beginning her family. Carroll enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers; spending time with family Up North; fishing trips to various locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Canada, trips and vacations with friends and relatives, bowling on women's league in Oconto at the Oconto Lanes, and duck pin bowling at the County Line Hall where she was the secretary in charge of record keeping. She also worked at Dumke Brothers in County Line for a number of years in charge of bookkeeping and other office duties... Her total German background came with the ability to cook wonderful and varied meals and to pass those recipes on to her children.

Carroll is survived by four children, son, Richard (Wendy) Dumke, County Line; daughters, Sandra (Victor) Heitzkey, Suamico; Barbara (James) Shufelt, Oconto; Darlene (Paul) Meagher, Scandinavia. Ten grandchildren, Eric (Tracey) Dumke, Salinas CA; Danielle Dumke, Green Bay; Amy Dumke, Green Bay; Jennifer (Brian) Baker, Peshtigo; Adam (Kellie) Heitzkey, Cedarburg; Mark (Amy) Heitzkey, Channahon, IL; Paul (Carol) Heitzkey, Belleville; Daniel (Alicia) Meagher, DePere; Amanda Meagher (fiancé Adam Onan), Clintonville; and Marissa Meagher, St. Louis Park, MN; 18 great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Ihde; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Carroll was preceded in death by her son John Dumke and his wife Susan; brothers, Raymond Ihde and John Ihde; sister, Glendora and her husband James Hoeper; and many sister- and brothers-in law from Leo's family; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018. Memorial services will be conducted 11 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.

Carroll's family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to everyone on the staff at Woodlands Village in Oconto and Unity Hospice. You became her second family over the past three years and it was very comforting knowing she was cared for by everyone like a family member. Thank you.
