- Carole Jansen, 84, Neenah, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Cherry Meadows Hospice with her family by her side. She was born October 9, 1927, in Manitowoc, daughter of Peter and Margaret (Herman) Gehrke. Carole married Aloysius "Al" Jansen October 9, 1947, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah and he preceded her in death March 7, 2008. She was a charter member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah where she formerly was an active volunteer with the church and school. Carole was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Nicolet Ladies #1838. She was a working mom who held many jobs, retiring from the James Early Insurance Agency. Carole enjoyed trips to the casinos and always looked forward to Saturday supper at The Ground Round.
Carole is survived by her children: Peter (Jane) Jansen, Neenah; David (Sharon DeFoliart) Jansen, Falmouth, ME; Peggy Sobiesczyk, Appleton; Paula Jansen, Neenah; Nancy (Lance) Olson, Town of Harrison; 13 grandchildren: Natalie (Brian) Dovi; Brian (Noelle) Jansen; Jodi (Jared) Pelski; Cortney (Brian Kim) Jansen; Hannah Jansen and special friend, Bryan Schneider; Dawn (Patrick) Steele; Jared Sobiesczyk; Jonathon Sobiesczyk; Michael Sobiesczyk; Peter E. (Kelly) Wick; Tara Jansen-Meyer; Christopher Olson and special friend, Becky Fedak; Stacie (Greg) Opahle; great grandchildren: Connor and Hailey Dovi; Kali Pelski; Alexandra Jansen; Ashlee, Colin, Aaron and Jackob Steele; Ethan and Owen Wick; a great grandson on the way, Sawyer Opahle; sister-in-law, Janet Gehrke, Neenah; brother-in-law, Donald Zolkowski, Darboy; brother-in-law, Martin T. Jansen, Little Chute; sister-in-law, Dolores Liesch, Little Chute; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and a special pet, "Buddy".
Carole was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sisters: Peter Gehrke, Jr.; Marilyn Gross; Donna Dorton; Kathlyn Zolkowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Adriana (Frank) LeNoble; John (Lorraine) Jansen; Norbert (Laverne) Jansen; Vincent (Grace) Jansen; Agnes (Charles) Moeri; Ursula (Joseph) Dollevoet; Joseph (Alvina) Jansen; Gertrude (Gordon) Marquardt; Anthony (Leatrice) Jansen; Gerald Jansen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Mary Jansen; a son-in-law, Elzer "Butch" Sobiesczyk.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Carole's name.
Carole's family wishes to thank 5th floor nurses and staff at Theda Clark Medical Center along with the staff at Peabody Manor and Cherry Meadows for their loving care and compassion.
