- Carl Lewis Wolfinger, Sr., age 92, died peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at his home. Carl was born on January 26, 1921 in Darboy, Wisconsin son of the late John and Ida (Juckem) Wolfinger. He served his country during WWII with the United States Coast Guard from December 12, 1942 until October 19, 1945. On October 27, 1978 he was united in marriage to Janet Zastrow. They shared 35 wonderful years together. Carl was a member of St. Patrick's Parish of Stephensville. He was formerly employed with Thilmany Paper Company as a mill-worker for over 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was a member of the American Legion Post 2930 in Portage, Wisconsin.
Carl is survived by his wife, Janet and his children, Carl (Marilyn) Wolfinger, Jr., Weyauwega; Betty Ann Van Dyke, Green Bay; Rosie Klauber, Shirley Wolfinger, Robert Wolfinger, all of Appleton; and Janet's children, Cheryl (Ervin) Fischer, Larsen; Patty (Herman) Griesbach, Kathy (Jack) Balke, Rick (Julie) Derks, all of Appleton; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, a sister, Doris Mae Boehlein, Appleton; and by a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, two brothers, five sisters, and his first wife, Betty.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM on Monday, September 23, 2013 at St. Patrick's Parish, N 3686 State Road 76 in Stephensville with Rev. Joseph Nsereko officiating. He will be entombed at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Appleton, with Military Honors. Carl's Family will receive relatives and friends at Valley Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-8PM and again on Monday at the church from 9:00AM until 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Carl's name.

ThedaCare@Home Hospice for the care and compassion given unto Carl and his family and to Father Joseph and Deacon Ken for their visits at his home and when Carl was in the hospital.
