    • alvin R. Schue, 82, of the Town of Birchwood died Oct. 12 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake. Funeral services were Friday at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Honor Guard.

      Mr. Schue was born Aug. 16, 1924 to Ralph and Gertrude (Kalis) Schue in the Town of Freeborn, Freeborn County, Minn., and grew up in Albert Lea, Minn. He served with the Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II and later moved to the Twin Cities area. On Aug. 14, 1964 he married Patricia Booth in Maplewood, Minn. Mr. Schue was an over-the-road truck driver for 29 years until 1963, when he started driving for Gillette Co. in St. Paul. In 1974 he became a line mechanic with them, and he retired in June 1984. The couple moved permanently to their summer home on the north end of Long Lake in 1986. Mr. Schue enjoyed woodworking and small engine repair and was an avid hunter, snowmobiler and motorcyclist. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

      He is survived by his wife, Patricia; and two sisters, Geraldine Poitras and Dianne Fesler, both of Mesa, Ariz.
