- Audrey C. West (Schwartz)
Audrey Caroline West, 85, of Paddock Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 23rd.
Born November 13, 1932, in Milwaukee, to the late Stephen and Anna (Ropel) Schwartz. Audrey married Gordon West in July of 1950, and they remained together for 62 years.
She is survived by her brother George (Janice) Schwartz, and her children Linda (Reggie) Carlson, Gordon (Diane) West II, Laura (Ken) Wisniewski, and Rick (Wendy) West. She is further survived by her 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Audrey was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Wilhelm.
She was employed at Magnetek in New Berlin, WI as the Director of Human Resources. She and her late husband were owners of AC West, Inc., which included Marathon gas stations and convenience stores in Paddock Lake and Wind Lake. At the same time Audrey worked side by side with Gordon throughout his political career as Kenosha County Board Supervisor for Dist. #23 for 15 years.
Audreys interests included spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and watching her Packers. Audrey was also an avid supporter of her Milwaukee Brewers.
Audreys notable achievements included being first runner-up in the Mrs. Wisconsin contest in 1956. She was President of the Kenosha Symphony League for many years, and a board member of the Women and Childrens Horizons, the Kiwanis Club of Westosha-Salem, the Hope Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse. Audrey was a member of the Kenosha Womens Club, and she also served on the Paddock Lake Board of Appeals.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of both Brookside Care Center and Hospice Alliance for the wonderful compassionate care that they provided their mother.
Audrey will forever be remembered as the epitome of a lady. Audrey is now and eternally reunited with her treasured husband.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29th at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 6301 344th Ave. New Munster, WI 53152 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Hospice Alliance or Brookside Care Center.
