    • Arlys Dorothy Schaefer, age 84 of Menasha, died at her home peacefully in her sleep after a battle with cancer. Arlys was born in Chilton on August 11, 1929, to the late Armond and Dorothy (Boll) Schnell. She graduated from Chilton High School. On August 6, 1949, Arlys was united in marriage to Richard Schaefer. The couple enjoyed 55 years together until Richard's passing in 2004. Together, Arlys and Richard owned and operated The Siesta Bar in the Town of Menasha - she also worked years ago at Schlaefer Hardware Store in Appleton. She enjoyed listening to Bob Euecker call Brewer Games, but most of all - Arlys enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a longtime member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton.

      She is survived by four sons: Steven Henry Schaefer, Appleton, Ken Schaefer, Des Plaines, IL, Kerry (Beth) Schaefer, Appleton, and Jeff Schaefer, DeForest, WI; four grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Kara, and Haylee; 1 great grandchild, Elijah; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Miller, Oshkosh. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

      A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 4 pm on Tuesday, July 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Father Brian Wideman officiating. Friends may visit at church in the Sacred Heart Room on Tuesday from 2 pm until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
