Little Chute
Age 73, died at her home at 10:45 p.m. Friday, November 21, 1986 after a courageous 3 month battle with cancer she found eternal peace. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she was born January 25, 1913 in Wrightstown, the daughter of Neil and Isabell (Lammers) Verbeten. In 1932 she was united in marriage to Martin T. VanGompel after wich they resided in Little Chute where they owned and operated Van's Dairy from 1932 until 1972. She was a member of St. John Catholic church in Little Chute. She spent her winter months at her residence in Winter Garden, Florida. Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law: Joan and Richard Johnson, Seymour; Sharen and Tom Wolf, Little Chute; Kathleen Van Gompel , at home Little Chute; three sons and daughters-in-law; Robert and Lorraine VanGompel, Little Chute; Martin (Tod) and Dace VanGompel, Waupaca; Paul and Kathy VanGompel, Hortonville; a brother, Clem Verbeten, Little Chute; three half-brothers; Robert Verbeten, Appleton, Charles Verbeten, M ountain; Ben Verbeten, Kaukauna; a sister, Lillian Ruckdachel, New London; a half sister, Mary Burriss, Anderson, South Carolina; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin in 1975, a daughter Karen, and two brothers: William and Vince and her parents. Service will be 7 p.m. Monday, November 24, 1986 at ST. John Catholic church with the Rev. Msgr. James VandenHogen officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. at the Church, Monday, November 24, 1986 until the time of service. The Verkuilen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
