- Kathleen "Anita" Brandon Beattie, 84, of Grand Island died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center. Graveside services will be at a later date in Hay Springs. The Rev. Robert Karnish will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Beattie was cremated. Mrs. Beattie was born on Oct. 25, 1914, at Hay Springs to John and Celia (Peters) Reid. She graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1932 and went to Omaha Business College in 1933. She married Russell L. Brandon in 1933 in Montana. They lived in Iowa until 1937, when they moved to Hay Springs. They moved to Gordon in 1951. She worked as a cosmetologist most of her life until retiring. Mr. Brandon died on July 4, 1953. After his death, she lived in Scottsbluff and Sidney. She moved to California in 1968. She married Tom Beattie in 1974. He died in 1984. She moved to Grand Island in 1991.She was a member of the Catholic faith. Survivors include three sons, Hugh Brandon of Grand Island, David Brandon of Loveland, Colo., and Bradley Brandon of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Kathleen McGuire of Lincoln and Bea Anne Taylor of Gordon; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Reid of Lubbock, Texas; and one sister, Lorna Corbetta of Menlo Park, Calif. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one grandson; one brother, Jack; and one sister, Arleen.
