- Alvin "Al" Lamal, 80, Bellevue resident, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 21,1998, in a local hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 9, 1918, in the Town of Humboldt, to the late Charles and Pauline (Phillips) Lamal. Al married the former Gladys Horkman on May 25, 1938, at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Catholic Church. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War 11. Following his return from service Al operated the family farm for a number of years until his employment at Procter and Gamble where he retired in 1978. Following retirement Al and Gladys moved to Crooked Lake for 15 years, moving back to Bellevue in 1993. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, especially his Tuesday night card group, and applied his talents with tools in the hobby of woodworking. Al was an avid Packers fan and a member of SS. Peter & Paul Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Linda Lamal, Allouez; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Larry Mahlik, Ashwaubenon; Mary and Butch Martzke, Shawano; Chris and Tony Vanden Langenberg, Bellevue; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Lamal, Green Bay; 14 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Lamal, Green Bay; three sisters, Lorraine DeGrave, Green Bay; Marie DeGrave, Eaton; Anna Mae Kimps, Worland, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harold; four infant grandchildren; and his brother, Hubert.
Friends may call at the Proko- Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church until time of mass. Parish Wake Service 7 p.m Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday at the church with Msgr. Roy Klister officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
