    • Allen "Max" Wittmann, age 82, of Brillion, passed away peacefully after a long journey with Alzheimer's on February 12, 2014 at Westhaven in Brillion.

      Allen was born in Green Bay on January 3, 1932, son of the late Alfred and Anna (Wenzel) Wittmann. He was a graduate of Brillion High School. Allen married his high school sweetheart and homecoming queen, Rita Geiger, on June 7, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brillion. Allen farmed near Brillion and worked at the Brillion Iron Works for several years. However, most of his life was spent affiliated with the Appleton Garot Christman Agency, where he worked as an independent agent for almost 50 years. Allen was a faithful member of St. Mary's Parish in Brillion where he served on the school council. More recently, he was a member of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Brillion. Allen was very proud to be a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross. He was also a very active member of the Brillion Lions Club and the Conservation Club. Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially enjoyed the time he spent at his cottage on Shawano Lake with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and gardener. Allen enjoyed woodworking projects, playing cards with family and friends, and was always grateful for the opportunities he had to travel within the United States as well as to Mexico, Europe and Africa.

      He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rita; their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: son, Gerald (Mary) Wittmann of Menasha and their family: Jeremy Wittmann and children: Tyler and Mariah of Neenah, Jason Wittmann and children Joseph and Milo of Rhinelander, Joelle (Dale) Knauer of Grand Chute and children: Francesca, Abigail and Cassandra, daughter, Jane (Robert) Holl and family: Natasha (Bryan) Hanneman of Wausau and children: Anthony and Samuel and Ashley (Paul) Michlig of Rothschild with children: Parker and Jackson; son, Dr. Thomas (Dr. Beth Erickson) Wittmann of Oconomowoc with family: David and Jacquelyn; and daughter, Julie (Dale) Luedtke of New Berlin with family: Gabriel (Luciana) Luedtke of Madison with children Calista and Lucio, Andrew (Hannah) Luedtke of Oshkosh with children: Kenan, Maverick and Hawkins; one sister and brother-in-law: Faye (Steve) Dragosh of Haslet, MI; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Don (Barb) Wittmann of Brillion and Lee (Lin) Wittmann of Athelstane; other in-laws: Natalie Prahl of Brillion, Katherine Geiger of Brillion, Joseph Juckem of Chilton, Dolores Diny of De Pere, and Albert Brick of De Pere; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Anna Wittmann, a son David Allen Wittmann, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Daniel and Ida (Vogel) Geiger, one brother: Wayne Wittmann, and other in-laws: Edward (Hilaria) Dvorachek, Norbert (Monica) Geiger, Bernard Geiger, Daniel (Beverly) Geiger, Ida Juckem, Elmer (Bernice) Geiger, Michael Diny, Germaine Brick, and other nieces and nephews.

      Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass will be the Rev. Timothy Brandt. Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery, Brillion. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until 12:30 p.m.
