- Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Mon. June 9, 1952, p. 3, c. 1. Two were killed and five others injured in weekend traffic accidents in Fond du Lac, Washington, Dodge and Green Lake counties. Dead are Allen Erwin Schaefer, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schaefer, Malone, R. 1. … The accident causing the death of Schaefer occurred about 1 a.m. today on Highway 149, about one and one-mile east of Johnsubrg. No one witnessed the mishap according to the county police officers investigating, Miles Rahn and Lloyd Hatch, but the car, assumedly driven by Eugene Birschbach, 16, went off the road, smashed two utility poles and crashed into a stone pile before rolling over. Traffic Officer Arnold J. Dankert took the injured to St. Agnes hospital in the county ambulance. Schaefer died at 6 a.m. Allen Erwin Schaefer was born June 22, 1935, on the family farm in the Town of Marshfield. He attended Holy Cross parochial school and the high school at Mt. Calvary. He was a member of St. Stephen's Young Men's society of the Holy Cross parish. Survivors in addition to his parents include eight brothers and sisters, Kenneth, in the military service, David, Harold, Gerald, Shirley, Lorna, Nancy and Barbara, all at home, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lefeber of St. Cloud. Funeral services for Allen Schaefer, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schaefer, Malone, R. 1, who was killed early Monday in an auto accident near Johnsburg will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Lisowe funeral home, where the body will be in state after noon on Wednesday, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross church, Mt. Calvary, with burial in the church cemetery.
