      Age 88, passed away early Wednesday after a two week illness. He was born in the Town of Harrison February 1, 1885 and farmed in that area all of his life. He was a past president of the Federal Land Bank of St. Paul and was active at St. John Lutheran church at Woodville. Survivors are a son, Walter Merbach, Route 1, Hilbert; a grandson, Dennis; two brothers, William Drake, N. Dakota, Louis, Kaukauna; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1960 and a son, harold in 1956. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Woodville, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Alvin Hertler will officiate. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home after 2 p.m. on Thursday and after noon Friday at the church.
