- My family's story about my Short ancestors is that they owned a sawmill in Upper Michigan that was destroyed by fire. The brothers then split up and went on their separate ways.
My great-grandfather, Albert Short, Sr. was born 18march1837 in Prussia, emigrated to the US in 1868, married Anna P-something (Paraya, Parsecki, Parsyk, or Paaseski, etc.) in 1869 and had 7 children, with 4 living to adulthood: Mary, Jacob (James), Martha, and Albert, Jr. He may have lived in Michigan with other relatives nearby. He died 25june1921 in Seymour, WI. His wife Anna P. was b. 28oct1882 in E. Prussia, Germany and d. 26feb1912 in Seymour, WI buried together at St. John's Cemetery on Hwy C south of Seymour, WI.
Natuarlization for Albert took place in PA. They lived in Manistee, MI where their children were born. Moved to Seymour, WI by 1889 they lived on 40 acres 1 mile south of Seymour. By 1990 census they resided in Township of Lessor, Navarino, WI.
