    • Adeline (Addy) Vogt was born on January 19, 1912 in Appleton, WI and died on May 20, 2004 in Sun City, AZ. She was the second born of eleven children to Ida and Philipp Vogt. Addy graduated from the Theda Clark Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Neenah, WI on June, 15, 1930 and enjoyed a lengthy career in nursing. After training in Pittsburgh's Mercy Hospital School of Anesthesia she became a Certified Nurse Anesthetist in 1937. She worked from 1938 to 1946 at Mercy Hospital, School of Anesthesia, in Pittsburgh, PA as a Chief Nurse Anesthetist and Clinical Instructor. From 1946 to 1974 she worked as an Anesthetist at the Lutheran Hospital of Milwaukee, WI. She retired in January 1974.
Addy was a devout Christian and very active with the Lutheran Church in the various communities where she lived. Her generous nature resulted in her active participation in the Lutheran Women’s Association and with assisting on various service and church committees.
Addy enjoyed rag-rug weaving, needlework, crocheting, and knitting. She loved traveling and being outdoors, especially activities like camping, birding, photography, swimming, hiking, and bicycling. She was even somewhat of an environmentalist: she and her friend, Clare, reforested their lot on the shore of Wisconsin's Lake Gurholt (near Scandinavia, WI) by planting 1,000 Norway pines, spruce, jack and white pines, nut and maple trees. She also was an avid gardener who loved to cook.
Addy had a loving, caring nature, but never married. She was very attentive and devoted to her three youngest siblings, particularly her youngest sister Jinny, and to her numerous nieces and nephews. She quietly assumed the role of unofficial matriarch of the Vogt family and looked forward to annual reunions with all of her siblings and their extended families.
Addy treasured her life-long friendship with Clare (Lucas) Newill (memorial #103119779). Addy and Clare met at Pittsburgh's Mercy Hospital in 1941 and remained lifelong friends and companions.
