North Carolina
Age 71, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House. He was born in Appleton, Wisconsin son of the late Ernest and Adeline (Duce) Coenen, and lived in Wisconsin most of his life. He was transferred to Hendersonville in 1983 with Daniels Packaging Company, where he was the company controller. Following his retirement with Daniels Packaging, he worked with Coldwell Banker-Hill and Associates for many years as a real estate broker. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Catholic War Veterans. He also had a passion for golf and was a member of the Hendersonville Country Club. RJ is survived by his wife, Cecelia (Sis) Coenen three sons: Douglas Coenen, Germantown Joe Coenen and his special friend, Nicole Mangent, Rhinelander John Coenen and his wife, Jane, Hortonville two daughters: Paddi Coenen, Menasha Kelly Coenen Hoppe and her husband, Mike, Rhinelander two step-daughters: Holly Pedersen Nitke and her husband, Brett, Little Chute Penny Pedersen Pankow and her husband, Andrew, Ketchikan, Alaska a stepson, Chip Pedersen and his wife, Ann, North Bend, Washington two brothers: Allen Coenen and his wife, Ellen, Land O'Lakes James Coenen and his wife, Rose, Schofield three sisters: Marian Gambsky, Hortonville Arlene Netzel and her husband, Don, Neenah Carol Kargus and her husband, Chuck, Menasha 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton with the Rev. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church, 312 S. State St., Appleton from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. The Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home of Hendersonville, NC and the Wieting Funeral Home of Brillion, Wisconsin are assisting the family with arrangements.In appreciation of the love and care extended to RJ and his family, memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers to Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House, 511 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or to the charity of your choice.
