    • John “Junior” Wirth, age 84, of Kimberly, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 25, 1932, in Isaar, son of the late John and Ann (Sanderfoot) Wirth. Junior proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the Combined Locks paper mill for over 40 years before his retirement.

      Junior was an avid fisherman, a big Wisconsin sports fan, and a polka music enthusiast. He enjoyed playing cribbage and sheepshead with his friends at Kamps Bar. Most of all, Junior enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their activities.

      Junior is survived by his children: Shelley (Bob) Jaehnke, Joe Wirth and Becky (Andrew) McDicken; grandchildren: Justin Jaehnke, Jennifer (fiance, Kyle) Jaehnke, John Wirth, Charlie Wirth, Suzie Wirth, Cole McDicken and Katy McDicken; a sister, Joann Jansen; a step-sister, Sylvia Bird; a brother-in-law, Leo Vandenberg; many other family members, friends and fishing buddies, especially Dick.

      Junior was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Lorenzo Schommer, Orville (Mary) Schommer, Elizabeth (Bud) Pennings, Marie Schommer, Betty (John) Keller, Marion Vandenberg, Bill (LeaAnn) DeGoey, Angie (Gene) Van Der Steen, Ellie (Don) Vandenberg and Carol (Bob) Burmester; brothers-in-law: Bill Jansen and Bob Bird.

      Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be performed after the service by the American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

      The Wirth family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Theda Care at Home Hospice, the staff at Caroline Assisted Living, especially CeCe and Miss Kathy, and to Dr. Shannon Schmidt and her staff at Theda Care Oncology for all of their wonderful care and compassion.
