    • Lois M. Volckmann of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Oconomowoc at the age of 88. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on February 6, 1928 the daughter of Harvey and Della (nee Milholen) Moore Jr. On February 16, 1952 she married William Volckmann O.D. in Waukegan, IL; he preceded her in death on June 29, 2012. In 1959 Lois and William moved to Waukesha. Lois received her CNA training from WCTI and worked for Avalon Manor and at Woodland Health Care. Lois went on to work as manager and right hand of her husband at his optometrist office from 1978 until 1996. Lois was an active and longtime member of Waukesha Bible Church. For 49 years she was an Awana leader where she was lovingly known as “Grandma”. She was a Sunday School Teacher, taught the Lady’s Bible Study, served on the Women’s Ministry, assisted with the Toddle Town of 1-3 year olds and the Beginner’s Ministry of 5 year olds, and along with her husband served on the Missionary Committee for 20 years. She and her husband were privileged to take 5 mission trips, including two to Africa, two to Venezuela and one to Mexico.

      Nurturing relationships and connecting with people was her gift. Lois had a compassionate heart and over the years she opened her home to countless people who would become part of her family. She was loving and giving and always put others first, helping anyone she could to meet their needs. Her presence was comforting and the love she had for people was selfless. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who knew how to love, laugh, live and have fun. She will be deeply missed.

      She was the beloved mother of Marie Hill Volckmann of Muskego, Paul (Jan) Volckmann of South Milwaukee, Patti (Peter) Larson of Oconomowoc and Mark (Jill) Volckmann of Waukesha. Cherished grandmother of Jayson Hyman, Rachel (Charlie Nelson) Hyman, Natalie (Matt) Racine, William “Bill” Volckmann, Jr. Clayton Volckmann, Mackenzie Volckmann, Heather (Jimmy) Litkenhus and Haley (Zach) Sublett. Her beloved great grandchildren Ava and Jake Sublett, her sister Joyce Arledge of Lake Providence, LA, and her brother Ray (Charie) Moore of Lake Providence, LA along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her husband and son Michael, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Argyle, Margie, and Harvey.

      Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Waukesha Bible Church S53 W24079 Glendale Road, Waukesha. Rev. Tom Hocking will preside. Private family graveside services with will be held on Monday, May 16th at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to AngelsGrace Hospice, N74 W35908 Servants’ Way, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.

      To honor Lois’s faithful 47 years of service to Awana at Waukesha Bible Church we will have a picture board at the church for everyone to display their favorite Awana picture. So remember when you come to church to bring a picture or two and wear your Awana vest.
