- OSSEO Teresa Ann (Croell) Johnson, age 73, of Osseo, passed away peacefully in Madison at her sons home surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.
She was born on September 1, 1942, the daughter of Richard and Leona Croell, in Lawler, Iowa. Teresa graduated from Lawler High School and was a basketball star, averaging 32 points a game by her senior year. After High School she went on to Rochester, Minnesota and became an LPN. While in nursing school, she met Barrie Johnson of Galesville. They married on July 27, 1963 and they had three children, Richard, Tammi and Daniel.
Teresa started her career in nursing and spent many years working in the Osseo clinic. Later she went into sales working for Gunderson Chevrolet and Hong Furniture. Her last career was in home care where she would help local Osseo residents that needed help in their homes to stay independent. She was very proud of this work and was so appreciated by the people she was able to help.
Teresa also loved sports. She loved Brett Favre and the Packers but more than that she loved watching her children and grandchildren play high school and college sports. She sat in a lot of bleachers and lawn chairs in a lot of different stadiums but never grew tired of cheering on her family.
Teresas nine brothers and sisters, three children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren meant everything to her. She poured her whole life into being the best sister, mother and grandmother possible. Even her grandchildrens friends called her Grandma T and she adopted them as her own.
Teresa is survived by her children, Richard (Linda) Johnson of Cottage Grove, Tammi (Kent) Crist of Mesa, AZ and Daniel Johnson of Chippewa Falls; nine grandchildren, Lauren Hartlaub, Matthew Johnson, Michael Johnson, Nikki (Jesse) Sweet, Alexis Baldowin, Jack Baldowin, Dylan Crist, Lexie Crist and Leah Crist; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Sam and Noah Hartlaub; nine brothers and sisters, Rosemary Junko, Jeanette (Earl) Nikolas, Mabel Banwell, Richard (Carol) Croell, Leone (Jack) ODonnell, Roger Croell, Eileen Levin, Kathy (Duane) Wickman and David (Bobbye) Croell.
A funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Raymond of Penefort Catholic Church, E10445 Mallard Road, Fall Creek, WI 54742. Father Derek Sakowski will be officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Lawler, IA.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
