      John A. Demerath Little Chute

      Age 78, passed away on February 7, 2000, at Appleton Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born May 10, 1921, in Freedom, where he was raised, the son of Gertrude and Joseph Demerath. John was in the U.S. Army and served in World War II in England. On June 7, 1947 he marride Elaine Lucassen. He had a couple part ime jobs alon with working at Kimberly Clark in Kimberly until his retirement in 1968. Upon his retirement, Joh cared for his wife and they took several trips to Arizona for the winter months until her death in 1991. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Holy Cross at one time, the Voiture 1140 Forty Et Eight, Knights of Columbus Council 10929 as a 4th Degree member, VFW Post 3319, Heart of the Valley Golden K, the American Legion County Council, and the American Legion Post 258 of which he was a post Commander. The American legion was a very important part of his life.

      Survivors include a daughter and a son in-law, Gloria and Jean Behrendt; two grandchildren, Consuelo Brhrendt and Brenda [Craig] Honor; a great grandson, Christopher Honer; and special companion, Loretta Hoelzel; and special friends, Sue, Gary and Steve Van Nuland; two brothers, Norbert [Lisa] Demerath, Suring; Edward Demerath, Green Bay; two sisters in-law, Marion Demerath, Green Bay; Ellie Demerath, Wrightstown.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gertrude Demerath; brothers, Rich, George, Clarence Demereth; sisters, Joan and Marie Bowers; brothers in-law, Elzear and Sam Bowers; and sister in-law, Rose, Ruth and Leona Demerath.

      Visitation will be held Friday, February 11, 2000, from 1 p.m. at Verkuilen Funeral Home until leaving for 5 p.m. services at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Military rites will follow the service.
