- Connie L. Strong (Buss), age 71, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home in Stevens Point, WI as a result of lung cancer on Friday, November 25, 2016.
Connie was born February 5, 1945, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital to Donald Buss and Harriet (Drexler/Buss) Brandt. She is survived by her twins: Cristi (Nathan) Schroeder of Stevens Point and Jason (Magdalena) Strong of Sweden; 3 grandchildren: Isaac, Ethan and Riona; sister-in-law, Sandy Buss; 3 half-brothers: Tim (Carol) Buss, Randy (Michelle) Buss, Alan (Jan) Buss; her step-sister Sue (Ken) Wyman; nephews and nieces; and other dear, extended family members.
Connie graduated from Appleton West in 1963. She was briefly married to John Strong and later to Frank Verhagen (step-son, Frank Jr. and step-daughter, Kristi), but spent much of her adult life as an amazing single mom. She worked in the travel industry, visiting beautiful destinations. She transitioned into administrative office work until she retired. Connie enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts. She loved animals, especially dogs like her Dalmatian, Dotty. She was also known as "Dot-2-Dot", and loved to go out on the town in her white Firebird. Connie was always an entertainer, making people laugh, and enjoyed spending time with friends and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas Buss.
A funeral service will be held at 7 pm, Tuesday, November 29 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St, Appleton with Rev. Nathan Schroeder presiding. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 pm to the time of service. Entombment will be held at Highland Memorial Park at a later time for immediate family, only.
