- Marie J. Roome, Kaukauna, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Atrium Post-Acute Care of Little Chute. She was born July 11, 1914 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Leo and Barbara (Hallada) Regenfuss. Marie was a 1933 Kaukauna High School Graduate. In 1936 she married LaVerne C. Roome, he preceded her in death on February 16, 1983. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, volunteering in the Queen of Peace Choir, serving funeral dinners, and hospitality greetings; her church was important to her. Marie was also an avid volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul and the environmental center.
She is survived by her son, Jack (Mariko) Roome, Alexandria, VA; 2 daughters: Carolyn Gritt, Kaukauna and Shirley Cordes, Riverside, CA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, one brother and sister-in-law: Joseph (Carol) and a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Herb) Vander Bloomen.
Funeral Services for Marie will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Holy Cross Catholic Church.
