- Sherman Wesley Clark, 94, Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Bloomington, died Jan. 17, 2012 at Jacksonville, Florida.
He was born July 5, 1917 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Thomas and Eliza Gallagher Clark. He married Katherine J. Hendricks of Ladysmith, Wisconsin on March 3, 1943 in Miami Beach, Florida. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by five children, Connie (Bob) Horenkamp, Bloomington; Hank (Kathy) Clark, Kansas City, Kansas; Dave (Linda) Clark, Bella Vista, Arkansas; Susan (Scott) Baker, Jacksonville, Florida and Mary Ainsworth, Viera, Florida; nine grandchildren, Lorreine Horenkamp DiCamillo, Thomas Horenkamp, Paul Clark, Marissa Horenkamp, Andrea Cooper, Annie Clark, Jacob Johnson, Chad Ainsworth and Ryan Clark and 10 great-grandchildren.
He served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in September 1964. He served in Iceland during World War II and later in the Army of Occupation in Korea. His career in the military was spent performing duties in personnel and legal services.
