    • Helen Jeanette Matteson, age 86, of W10194 Meadow Lane, Gresham, passed away Friday, December 3, 2004, in Shawano. Helen was born on October 23, 1918, in Waupaca, daughter of the late Hans C. and Lillian M. (Peterson) Neilson. On January 31, 1941, she was united in marriage to Donald T. Matteson in West Allis. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1985. Helen lived in Appleton from 1945 until 1976 when she and her husband moved to Gresham. She was a member of the Old Stockbridge Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Morgan Siding. .

      Helen is survived by: three daughters, Nancy (Martin) Drury, Two Rivers, Martha (Curt) Knoke, Gresham, Karen (Ron) Boerson, Green Lake; one son, Jim (Debbie) Matteson, Champlin, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold (Harriette) Neilson of Sandwich, Ill. .

      Helen was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald; her parents; and one sister, Kathryn. .

      Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Joshua Martin officiating. Burial of cremains will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Waupaca. Family and friends may call at the funeral home in Shawano after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established.
