    • Hesse, Harold Edward, 94, was called from this world on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. He was born November 20, 1923 in Appleton to the late Edward and Laura (Fockel) Hesse.

      Harold graduated from Appleton High School in 1941. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. While Harold was deployed, he spent twenty-six months aboard a LC1 Landing craft in the Marshall Islands region of the Pacific Ocean. He attended Layton Art School of Milwaukee and worked as an illustrator at Fox River Tractor in Appleton for 32 years. Harold’s hobbies included: Big band and Polka dancing, flowers and tinkering.

      Harold will be missed by his three sons: Paul (Mary) Hesse, David (Betsy) Hesse, and Thomas (Kariann) Hesse; a grandson: Christopher Hesse; a great grandson: Hunter Hesse; and a special friend Janice Kelly.

      Harold is preceded in death by his wife: Germaine M. (Binsfeld) Hesse; a stepmother: Frieda (Keller) Hesse; a sister: Germaine (Harold) Schroeder; and a step sister: Gladys Carol (Robert) Meyer.

      Harold’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at Helen’s House, Greenville, for all of the kindness and compassion they gave him during his last years. He was very fortunate to have their loving care.
