- Pete Hearden, 92, residing at 78 Lariat Circle in Boca Raton, Fla., 33487, and formerly of Green Bay, Wis., quietly passed away in Torrance, Calif., on June 15, 2006, after a very brief illness. Pete was a devout Catholic, a loving father and grandfather, a kind and gentle man who always went out of his way to say hello and be friendly, a loving soul who touched the hearts of all whom he encountered. Born in Kaukauna, Wis., he was the son of the late Thomas and Sarah (McMahon) Hearden. Peter attended Green Bay East High School and the University of Notre Dame. He was formerly a sales executive for Uarco Inc. (Standard Register) and was based over the years in Chicago, Indianapolis and New York City.
Peter is survived by his life partner of 63 years, his wife, Helen (Reinhart) Hearden; his sons, P. Michael Hearden (Mary Frances), Columbus, Ind.; and Robert Hearden, Boca Raton, Fla.; and two daughters, Georgiana Elias (Wayne Elias), Torrance, Calif.; and Mary Lois Shevlin (Michael Shevlin), Princeton Junction, N.J.; and, three grandchildren, Matthew Elias, Luke Shevlin and Molly Shevlin.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Willett (Mac Willett); and three brothers, Leonard Hearden (Genevieve Mathey), Lester Hearden (Marie Christman), and Thomas Hearden (Marion Moore); and over 16 nieces and nephews. Peter was the grandson of Wisconsin pioneers from Ireland. Peter's special interest in retirement was to research his Irish heritage.
Visitation will be held at Cotter Funeral Home today, June 21 (Wednesday), evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. located at 860 N. Webster Ave. in De Pere, Wis., 54115, (920) 336-8702. A second brief visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at the Bishop Wycislo Center of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in downtown Green Bay prior to the Mass of the Resurrection which will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with Msgr. Roy Klister officiating. A celebration of Pete's life will be held at the Regency Suites Hotel in downtown Green Bay at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, immediately following the funeral Mass.
In lieu of other expressions of other sympathy, contributions may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Peter M. Hearden Memorial Fund.
