    • Age 90, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton, Wisconsin. He was born on February 5, 1918, in Appleton, WI., son of Arnold & Amanda (Damsheuser) Bast, and lived his entire life in Appleton. He married Mildred Kranzusch on September 1941. The couple enjoyed 57 years together until her death in 1998. Leslie worked for many years for the City of Appleton, retiring in the early 1970s. He was an avid outdoorsmanwho enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He loved to drive his truck daily to the local fishing spots to see if there was any action. Leslie also loved his cigars. He was a member for many years at Zion Lutheran Church, Appleton.
      He is survived by his three daughters; Sandra Williams, Joan (Joseph) Martin, and Mary Kapp all of Appleton; three grandsons; Todd Kapp, Anthony (Sandie) Martin, and Timothy (Julie) Martin; two great-grandchildren; Brett and Casey Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister, Verna Hermes, and a nephew, Kenneth Fischer.
      A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008, in the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Friends may call at the chapel on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
