George A. Ditter, 82, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Armstrong, died Sunday at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1895, in the Town of Taycheedah, a son of Frank and Barbara Maurer Ditter.
He was a veteran of World War I.
On June 23, 1926, he married the former Esther Blanck at Mt. Calvary.
The couple farmed in the Armstrong area until retiring in 1970. They moved to Fond du Lac in 1975.
He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Armstrong, and the Fond du Lac County Barracks.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Cary, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Mrs. Frank (Carol) Beuk Jr., Stillwater, Okla., Mrs. Wayne (Eileen) Starnitcky, Route 3, Plymouth, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Sippel, Route 1, Mt. Calvary, and Mrs. Mary Ann Borgen, Fond du Lac; three sons, Eugene, Fond du Lac, Donald, Glenbeulah, and Kenneth, Armstrong; 28 grandchildren, and a brother, Ben, St. Cloud.
Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Armstrong, the Rev. Joseph Fischer, pastor, celebrant. Family rites will precede at noon at the Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
A parish vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
