- Viola Van Gheem, age 91, died on Saturday January 12, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born August 31, 1921 in Brown Co. to the late Levi and Marie (Jansen) Garsow. On June 19, 1942 she married Adolph Van Gheem. Viola and Adolph ran a Grocery Store in Oneida for over twenty years. After retirement she and Adolph loved to travel.
She is survived by her son Thomas (Lauren) Van Gheem, Freedom, her two grandchildren; Rick (Nancy) Van Gheem, Freedom, and Connie Van Gheem, Green Bay; Viola is further survived by 6 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Three sisters in law also survive; Ethel Garsow, Diane Garsow, and Dorothy Boehm. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adolph, her daughter Jean VandeHey, as well as Viola's brothers, Robert Garsow, Frank Garsow, Jim Garsow, and Raymond (Mabel) Garsow.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere after 9am on Tuesday January 15, 2013. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
