- Rita M. Buchberger, 74, of De Pere, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday May 12, 2010. She was born November 3, 1935, in Kaukauna to the late Herbert and Agnes (Powell) Martzahl. On January 28, 1954, she married Gerald Buchberger at St. Mary Catholic Church in Black Creek. Rita was a member of the Future Homemakers of America, Brown County Homemakers, 4H, and was a past Girl Scout Leader. She especially loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Gerald; her children: David (Lorrie) Buchberger, Susan (Joseph) Newhouse, Mark Buchberger, Michael Buchberger, Karen Buchberger, Leo Buchberger, Paul Buchberger, Sara (Thomas) Tims, Jill (Kevin) Van Handel, as well as special family friends Ann Buchberger and special neighbors Terry and Sue. Rita is also survived by her grandchildren; Stacy, Rebecca (Justin), Deenah, Riyun (Gabby), Mara, Jamie (Ann), Rob (Jennine), Cory (Becky), Randy (Alyson), Noah, Jeff (Nikki), Lori (Andrew), William, Desiree, Leo, Stephanie, Neil (Deanna), Robin, Alex, and Jake, as well as her great-grandchildren; Riley, Emma, Levi, Carson, Vivien, Haley, Makayla, Emma, Kayla, Lauren, Caleb, Daniel, Jaklyn, and Michael. Her siblings also survive: Donald (Shirley) Martzahl, Melvin (Diane) Martzahl, Judith Pahl, Norma (Dennis) Van Elzen, Sue Ann (Harry) Schroeder, Jean (Gerald) Bauman, Nancy (Peter) Dietz, Phillip (Becky) Martzahl, and her sister in law Joy Martzahl. All the children she cared for and loved, especially Heather, Wylie, Luke, Tera, Anne, Becky, Zachary, Jacob, Max and Aranda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews survive her.
Her parents, her grandson Warren, her brothers: Ernest, Leo, Bruce, her sister Laverne, her sister in law Evelyn Buchberger, and her in laws Henry and Gen Buchberger preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive, De Pere, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Fr.
