  • Notes
    • Laurence Kelly, the son of John and Anne, and father of Michael Kelly, was born in Ireland and came to Askeaton, Wisconsin with his parents when he was very young. Laurence and Mary Ann were married at St. John`s Catholic Church in Morrison, Wisconsin by Rev. James Lane on January 23, 1871. They had four sons and one daughter: Myrlte, who married Harry Beach of Dundas, Michael Clark who married Elizabeth Powers at St. Patrick`s Catholic Church in Askeaton, Wisconsin, John, Thomas, and Edward who never married. They made their home at what was known as "Kelly`s Corners", where they owned and operated a saloon, dance hall, store, and hotel type business. A large scale was used here by farmers as far away as Morrison, Wisconsin and Wayside, Wisconsin to weigh hay or grains before they were taken and loaded onto the Milwaukee Railroad cars at the Askeaton Depot.
