    • Mark Richard Van Ooyen, Little Chute, age 57, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. He was born in Appleton on March 6, 1957 to Donald and Mary (Meulemans) Van Ooyen. He was a graduate of Kimberly High School. Mark served in the Army and was a veteran of the Gulf War. He also graduated from Fox Valley Technical College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science. Mark was the buffet chef at Main Event Steakhouse since its inception.

      Mark was a free spirit that followed the beat of his own drum. He was an avid gardener and co-founder of the Little Chute Garden Club. Mark also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and woodworking.

      Mark is survived by his son Uriah (Elissa), Iron Mountain, MI; grandchildren: Ivy and Ian Van Ooyen, Jessica and Hunter Pahl; father Donald; and sisters: Pat (Jeff) Austin, Laurie Austin, Lisa Berghuis and Amy (Dennis) Vandenberg. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      Mark was preceded in death by his daughter Sativa Pahl; mother Mary; and brother John.
