- Howard VandenLangenberg, 87, of Kelly Lake, WI, formerly of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013. He was born Oct. 24, 1925 in Green Bay, WI to the late Joseph and Hattie (Scray) VandenLangenberg. He attended Washington Jr. High and East High School. Howard spent 2 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in the South Pacific, and 4 years in the Navy Reserve. He was an apprentice, journey reproduction photographer and went on to become President and general manager of Green Bay Engraving, Inc., retiring in 1985. He was a commander of the Bellevue V.F.W. Post 9677, on the board of directors of Northwest Credit Union, Finance committee member for Spruce, Klondike, and Coleman churches, manager of St. Mary's Roller Rink, and was a current member of St. Michael's Church, Suring, WI. He was a lifetime member of the Kelly Lake Sportsman's Club and was a member of the Mulligan Crew.
Howard married the love of his life, Janet Jaklin on June 21, 1947 at St. Philip church in Green Bay, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2012. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Howard's special interests were bowling, fishing, traveling and playing cards with his friends and family.
Survivors include one son, Randall, Suring; daughters Teri Francois, Green Bay; Mary (Michael) Rasmussen, Townsend; Karen (Francis) Karchinski, Pulaski (who are triplets); Vicki (Robert) Wetli, Baldwin; and Toni (Jeffrey) Kubiak, Shawnee, KS. Howard was the best grandpa ever to 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Eloise VanderKelen, Green Bay; his brother and sisters-in-law, Raphael and Ida VandenLangenberg, Green Bay; Ronnie and Jeannie VandenLangenberg, Green Bay; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Arnie Rentmeester, Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Pearl VandenLangenberg, Suring; Betty VandenLangenberg, Green Bay; Lorraine VandenLangenberg, Green Bay; Barb VandenLangenberg, Green Bay; Joanne Linssen, Denmark; Jane Jaklin, Green Bay; Eunice Jaklin, Green Bay; Arlene Jaklin, Two Rivers; and many nephews and nieces.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Harvey VandenLangenberg, Marv VandenLangenberg, Kenny VandenLangenberg, Lloyd VandenLangenberg, sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosella and Ray Lamal, Lorraine and Orland Nick, and brothers-in-law, Bill VanderKelen, Merlin Linssen, Clayton Jaklin, Harley Jaklin, and Al Jaklin. He is also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Alan Francois; his grandson, James Karchinski; and great grandson, Charles Julius James Howard.
Family and friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 4 to 7 pm. Parish Wake Service 7pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Suring, WI from 9:30 to 10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Friday at the church with Rev.
