Baeten, Ruth Marie
Ruth Marie (Bries) Baeten, 90, Wrightstown, passed away quietly with her family, on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Good Shepherd Home in Seymour. She was born in Green Bay on November 20, 1918, to the late Jule and Anna (Gerrits) Bries. She graduated from Wrightstown High School. Ruth married Clarence A. "Larry" Baeten at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown on November 20, 1945. They were long-time residents of Wrightstown, where they operated a service station. He passed away June 14, 1983.
Ruth was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown, and a member of the Christian Mothers Society. Ruth was an excellent wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and flower gardens, and was especially fond of her rose bushes. She also loved going on Sunday drives, and flying in Jay's single engine plane. She will be remembered and missed by all, especially her family.
Surviving are eight children: Mary Lemke, Black Creek; Gerard Jay Baeten, De Pere; Gregory (Wanda) Baeten, Kaukauna; Jean (Daniel) Nohr, Maribel; Michael (Connie) Baeten, De Pere; Linda (Joseph) McConnell, Claskanie, OR; Patricia (Thomas) Knoerzer, Palos Heights, IL; and Kevin Baeten, Cross Plains, WI; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Jule; her husband, Larry; a sister, Virginia; and her husband's family: Vincent and Anna Marie Baeten, William and Edna Hockers, Ruth and Wilbert Jansen, James and Dorothy Coniff, Clarence and Alice Charneski.
Friends may call at St. Clare Parish, St. Paul Catholic Church site, 437 Main Street, Wrightstown, on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, between 3 and 4:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday at 5 p.m. with Father Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Burial in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home, 920-532-4366, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the Baeten family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association in the name of Ruth M. Baeten.
